We are thrilled to announce that gallery artist Chris Kahler is currently featured in the compelling group exhibition, Under Pressure, at the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art in Sedalia, Missouri. Running now through December 20, 2026, this exhibition is a fantastic excuse for a cultural day trip, especially if you are based in the St. Louis area or traveling through the state this Summer & fall.
Drawn from the Daum Museum’s impressive collection, Under Pressure explores abstraction as a battleground between order and disruption. The exhibition dives into the tension of formal structures—like rigid grids and repeated systems—and examines what happens when those frameworks are subjected to pressure.
Instead of offering a peaceful visual escape, the works on display showcase how systems intended to stabilize can actually reveal their own fragility. Control and vulnerability coexist in a state of friction, with structures eventually loosening, fragmenting, or giving way to raw gesture and material presence. It’s an environment where instinct and control intersect, creating a persistent, unresolved energy that is fascinating to witness in person.
Whether you’re a long-time collector of Kahler’s work or simply a fan of contemporary abstraction, seeing these pieces contextualized in such a charged, thematic space is an experience you won’t want to miss.
