Gallery artist, Bunny Burson has her sculpture “And Still I Rise” (2017) on view at the Barrett Barrera Projects front window, at 4739 McPherson Avenue, St. Louis. The sculpture was shown at Bruno David Gallery in 2017-18.
“And Still I Rise” (Maya Angelou) includes confetti that is the actual confetti that had been loaded into the air cannons and was poised to cascade down on the stage at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in 2016.
This installation was created by Bunny Burson to inspire, to motivate, and to give us the courage and vision to act and to resist when needed. It is a reminder that elections matter and have serious consequences, and that women’s rights, voting rights, need to be fostered and protected.
