Site specific sculpture by Thomas Sleet

Site specific sculpture “River Ark”, by gallery artist Thomas Sleet at the Audubon Center at Riverlands, incorporates two parallel lines of driftwood posts, set vertically into the ground, stretching approximately 60 ft. in length; the posts are between 4 and 7 inches in diameter; ascending from 4 feet at one end and 8 ft tall at the other end of the line. The charred posts, used in this installation have received a blackened patina and a boiled linseed oil coating. The top ends of posts are fitted with mirrors to reflect the sun and sky from different angles during different times of day. The viewer can contemplate the work from a distance, close up and from the center of the installation. A trip to the Audubon Center is well worth the visit to Riverlands, West-Alton, IL.
