Installation has begun for Chris Kahler’s 14th solo exhibition at the gallery, entitled “FLUX”, opening Friday, November 7, from 6-8 pm, and on view through December 27, 2025.
The ”FLUX” series marks Kahler’s exploration of opalescence as a living system of perception in flux. Like biological processes, color is never fixed; it flashes between the micro and macro, emerging through constant interaction and adaptation. On the surface, light and pigment behave like cellular structures—layered, porous, and responsive—while in motion they resemble ecosystems, interdependent and evolving in time with the viewer’s gaze. Circles recur throughout this work as symbolic forms: at once microscopic and cosmic. Using interference pigments and translucent layers, Kahler constructs fragile, luminous events where perception itself becomes a biological network: dynamic, contingent, and active. Using natural and synthetic colors impacted by the digital age, Kahler exposes the overlapping relationships between Abstract Expressionism, Color Field, Psychedelia, Op, and Pop art to create provocative new works on panel.
