William Conger unveils “Today” in Chicago

Congratulations to gallery artist, William Conger for unveiling his new public and permanent installation artwork “Today” at the Bryn Mawr main stationhouse/Red Line – Chicago for the CTA Arts in Transit Program (Smalti glass mosaic; laminated glass with ceramic colors-Fabricated by Franz Mayer of Munich) “Today” celebrates Chicagoans whose daily ambitions renew the city’s history of creativity and achievement. The abstract compositions of the wall mosaic and glass elevator enclosure evoke Chicago’s great industrial and mercantile strength with geometric and curvilinear shapes and bold colors. These elements suggest architectural structure, machines, wind-swept banners, prairie skies and Lake Michigan – and together urge everyone to live fully today! Photo: CTA.
